Privacy Policy

Short version: no accounts, no analytics, no email needed to comment. Here's exactly what is stored and why.

Who is responsible

This policy covers snowriderplay.com. You can reach us through the contact page.

When you just visit or play

  • Hosting logs. Like every website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't run analytics or tracking scripts of our own.
  • Fonts and images are served from this site. We don't load Google Fonts or other font services.
  • The game player. Nothing from the game provider loads until you press Play. The game then runs in a frame served by the licensed game provider, which may set its own cookies, show ads and process data under its own privacy policy. This site can't see or read anything inside that frame, including your score.

Stored only on your device

Some features save small settings in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and we can't see them:

  • your light or dark theme choice,
  • games you marked as favorites and the “My best run” number you typed in,
  • the display name you last used for a comment, so you don't have to type it again,
  • which comments you reported, so the button shows “Reported”.

You can clear these any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. We don't set cookies for visitors. Moderators who sign in to the admin area get a session cookie that's needed for that login.

When you post a comment or reply

  • What's published after approval: your display name, your comment, the optional self-reported best run, and the time you posted.
  • What we keep privately: a pseudonymous hash of your IP address (created with a secret key, so it can't be reversed with a simple lookup). We use it to limit spam and to handle abuse. It's removed from comments after 30 days.
  • Bot check: the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. When the form loads, Cloudflare receives technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots, and we send them the check result token and your IP address to verify it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We don't ask for your email address to comment, so please don't put personal details in your name or comment.

When you send a report or a message

Problem reports, contact messages and rights notices store what you write, the page you sent it from, the time, a shortened description of your browser (to help us reproduce game problems) and the same IP hash as above. An email address is stored only if you give one, and we use it only to reply to you. These forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile.

How long we keep things

  • Approved comments: until you ask us to remove them or we remove them under the community rules.
  • Rejected comments: deleted 30 days after the decision.
  • IP hashes on comments and reports: removed after 30 days.
  • Rate-limit records (IP hash and time): deleted after 2 days.
  • Reports and messages: deleted 180 days after we close them.

Who else is involved

  • Cloudflare hosts the comment and report service and its database, and provides Turnstile.
  • The game provider serves the game inside the player once you press Play.
  • Share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to X, Facebook, Reddit or WhatsApp unless you click one.

We don't sell personal data, and we don't share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Why we're allowed to process it

If data protection laws such as the GDPR apply to you: we process comments, reports and messages because you choose to send them (consent, which you can withdraw by asking us to delete them), and we process IP hashes and logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and free of spam.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Because comments don't need an account or email, tell us the display name, the page and roughly when you posted so we can find it. Use the contact page. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The games here appeal to younger players. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and comments don't require any. Moderators reject comments that contain personal details such as full names, schools, phone numbers or addresses.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that handles visitor data, for example a different game provider or advertising, we'll update this page before it goes live and change the date below.
